This grade 3 multiplication test answer key gives the full solution and the scoring guide for each of the 8 test questions on multiplication and division facts within 100.
Use this key to grade the test. Each solution shows one correct method, and the scoring note tells how to award points. Accept other correct methods, such as a different way to break apart a factor.
Grade 3 Multiplication Test Answer Key: questions 1–5
Question 1: Fact family (4 points)
\(7 \times 8 = 56\), \(8 \times 7 = 56\), \(56 : 7 = 8\), \(56 : 8 = 7\).
Scoring: 1 point for each correct fact. Accept the facts in any order.
Question 2: Find the products (3 points)
- \(6 \times 7 =\) 42
- \(8 \times 4 =\) 32
- \(9 \times 6 =\) 54
- \(5 \times 8 =\) 40
- \(7 \times 7 =\) 49
- \(3 \times 9 =\) 27
Scoring: 1 point for 2 correct answers, 2 points for 4 correct, 3 points for 6 correct (5 correct earns 2 points).
Question 3: Find the quotients (3 points)
- \(54 : 6 =\) 9
- \(28 : 4 =\) 7
- \(72 : 8 =\) 9
- \(45 : 9 =\) 5
- \(63 : 7 =\) 9
- \(32 : 8 =\) 4
Scoring: 1 point for 2 correct answers, 2 points for 4 correct, 3 points for 6 correct (5 correct earns 2 points).
Question 4: Missing numbers (2 points)
- \(8 \times 8 = 64\): 8
- \(42 : 7 = 6\), because \(7 \times 6 = 42\): 42
Scoring: 1 point for each correct number.
Question 5: Read an array (2 points)
- 7 rows of 8: \(7 \times 8 = 56\) (or \(8 \times 7 = 56\))
- \(56 : 7 = 8\) or \(56 : 8 = 7\)
Scoring: 1 point for a correct multiplication fact; 1 point for a correct division fact with 56, 7, and 8.
Grade 3 Multiplication Test Answer Key: questions 6–8
Question 6: Break apart (2 points)
One way: \(6 = 5 + 1\). Then \(7 \times 5 = 35\) and \(7 \times 1 = 7\). Add: \(35 + 7 = 42\).
Answer: \(7 \times 6 = 42\).
Scoring: 1 point for a correct split and correct partial products; 1 point for the correct sum 42. Any correct split earns full credit.
Question 7: Books on shelves (2 points)
- \(63 : 9 = 7\)
- 7 books, because \(9 \times 7 = 63\)
Scoring: 1 point for the correct equation (accept a missing-factor equation such as 9 × ? = 63); 1 point for 7 books.
Question 8: Sharing oranges (2 points)
Total oranges: \(8 \times 4 = 32\). Each friend: \(32 : 4 = 8\).
Answer: 8 oranges.
Scoring: 1 point for finding the total number of oranges (32); 1 point for dividing to get 8.
Scoring summary
20 points: add the points of every question of this grade 3 multiplication test answer key.
