Question 7: Pencil boxes (3 points)
a) 4 boxes of ten is 40. \(40 + 8 = 48\). 48 pencils.
b) The digit 4 tells the tens.
c) The 8 means 8 ones, the 8 loose pencils.

Question 8: Trade ones (3 points)
a) 12 ones minus 10 ones is 2 ones. 3 tens plus 1 ten is 4 tens. 4 tens and 2 ones.
b) 42. Check: \(30 + 12 = 42\).
